Senior Geospatial Analyst, Digital Investigations Lab

Carolina Jordá Álvarez is the Senior Geospatial Analyst at Human Rights Watch. As part of the Digital Investigations Lab, she works closely with researchers by applying geospatial technologies to human rights investigations. She is responsible for the analysis and production of satellite imagery derived products that cover a range of issues, including armed conflict, forced displacement, environmental destruction, and poverty and inequality.

Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, Carolina worked as a satellite imagery analyst at the UN’s Operational Satellite Applications Program providing support for humanitarian operations during armed conflicts and natural disasters. She holds an M.A. in Environmental Sciences with a focus on water, sanitation and hygiene from the University of Alcala de Henares, Spain.  Carolina speaks Spanish, English, and Italian.
