Carine Chehab
Carine Chehab, Human Rights Watch’s Senior Director for Canada, leads the organization’s outreach, fundraising and community activities in Canada and oversees the country’s office, located in Toronto. Previously, Carine was the Human Rights Watch Miami Director from 2017 to 2023, where she established the organization’s office in Florida and formed the Miami Committee. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch, Carine led the strategic partnerships and humanitarian diplomacy programs for the Middle East and North Africa at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). She holds an MA in Political Science from McGill University and was awarded a US Fulbright research fellowship for her work on women’s rights in Jordan. Carine is a member of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) and serves on its Board of Directors. Originally from Montréal, Carine now resides in Toronto with her husband, two children and their cat.
